$100 million free agent and former Baltimore Raven wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr. may land with a surprising NFC Team the Washington Commanders this offseason after the recent NFL Draft 2024. This stretch is a busy time for many teams across the league trying to fill their roster depth with veterans. Beckham is among the many best available wideouts that are still in the market to find a new NFL home. According to a source, the Commanders were one of the “best landing spots” for the LSU product.

The Commanders have been making big splashes in this year’s draft by selecting Jayden Daniels as the No. 2 overall pick. The team added a weapon, Luke McCaffrey in a wide receiver room that lost Curtis Samuel to the Buffalo Bills in free agency. However, the Commanders are looking to add to their depth with proven talent to help Daniels adjust in his rookie year. Beckham could serve in that depth role by pairing with Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson.

The issue with this is that Beckham may just be ring-chasing at this point of his career after winning one Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams. However, it allows the LSU product to be involved with a franchise that’s taking a step in the right direction. The point is that the Commanders need one more proven veteran to help the young talent and there have been rumors they could add more. A source said the Commanders could target tall-slot former Cincinnati Bengal, Tyler Boyd.

However, the goal is to keep providing talent for incoming quarterback Jayden Daniels to get the best out of their offense. They did their homework by drafting McCaffrey and tight end Ben Sinnott, but adding a veteran would be crucial.

The Team Should Start Building Around Their Future

The Commanders are in the right direction of building their franchise around after another disappointing campaign last year, going 4-13 under former head coach Ron Rivera. The team was able to sign several free agents with a busy offseason adding key offensive pieces. However, the focus is to surround Daniels with talent that will jumpstart his NFL career to become one of the best quarterbacks in the league. This is the same move they were making when hiring Dan Quinn as their next head coach for the franchise.

They got their man possibly for the next decade but they need one more proven receiver to help complement Dotson and McLaurin. A rumor was spreading during the Brandon Aiyuk trade buzz that the Commanders could target. If they want him then that time would be now since he’s receiving interest from numerous teams. Beckham notched 565 yards and three touchdowns on 35 receptions last year.

After tearing his ACL in 2022, he came back the following year to prove that he still had gas left in the tank. The LSU product was viewed as the league’s best receiver, putting up 1,000 consistent yard seasons. Here are other possible team fits for Beckham if he doesn’t land with the Commanders.

Possible Team Fits for Beckham

The only team that Beckham has recently met with is the Miami Dolphins so, surprisingly, he’s not visiting more teams. Chiefs remain the top landing spot for the 31-year-old who could fit with the offensive scheme. The team will likely be without Rashee Rice this year so adding Beckham to help Xavier Worthy on the field would be beneficial. He’ll still contribute to the offense no matter what if he’s not bringing numbers like Worthy or Marquise Brown.

The Chargers are another possible fit since losing Mike Williams and Keenan in this year’s free agency. One rumor has Beckham as the best fit for Los Angeles after drafting Ladd McConkey, Brenden Rice and Cornelius Johnson. Los Angeles would need some proven talent to help franchise quarterback Justin Herbert. However, ESPN said that Beckham could fit with the Saints as their next WR2 next to Chris Olave.

It could make sense since the New Orleans native said he would love to play for the team.
